Summer Art Camps: Week 9

The Delaplaine offers two sessions each week, morning (10 am–12 pm) and afternoon (1–3 pm) with classes for students ages 6–10 and 10–14. Before and after care is available for an extra cost and offers additional art activities and added convenience for parents.

The Delaplaine’s summer camp program is Maryland Department of Health certified. PLEASE NOTE: Currently, masking is not required in youth or teen and adult classes and workshops at the Delaplaine. Those wishing to mask are encouraged to do so. The Delaplaine reserves the right to change its masking policy at any time based on current circumstances and guidance. Recycle Razzle Dazzle (ages 6–10)

Sand down, design, and paint your very own piece of furniture! Bring in your own piece of wooden furniture to upcycle and turn into a new and personalized creation! Wooden furniture pieces can include anything from a stool to a chair, even a small chest or tiny dresser. All other supplies are included.

Image Transfers and Mixed Media Making (ages 10–14)

David Modler

Learn several image transfer techniques working with photocopied images and magazines. Use these images to develop personal artwork with layered effects.

Maxine Campisciano

Explore different types of clay and many of the famous artists who used clay in their art. By the end of the week, you will have an art piece for each type of clay and artist that we learned about.

Cubist Approach to the Still Life and Self-Portrait (ages 10–14)

Work with a variety of drawing materials to examine the compositional techniques developed by the Cubist artists over a century ago. Create still life and self-portrait drawings while exploring these innovative processes.
