Calligraphy: Gothic Textura Script

Instructor: Christine Tischer
Description: Gothic hands are made with perfectly vertical strokes resembling a picket fence as the strokes are repeated. It is also called black-letter because of the fight between black and white in the spaces in each letter and between letters, black winning! The compact nature of this script depends on the lozenge-shape of the "O," which is repeated. This hand has many uses today, but is mostly fun to write with a broad-edged dip pen. Tuition includes all supplies. Beginners are welcome. Note: Left-handed students may wish to consult with Delaplaine staff about modifications before enrolling.
