Before There Were GIFs

Instructor: Hayley Powers Thornton-Kennedy
Description: Graphic Era Workshop GIFs have become a part of the zeitgeist through the use of memes and as a method of communication. These short looping animations are also a tool used by artists to create messaging app stickers, creatively explore complex concepts and themes in editorial illustrations, and more! In this workshop, students will go back to the analog tradition of animation to understand and apply the skills and methods behind GIF creation. Participants will come away with a flipbook with an original analog GIF.
