Plein Air Landscape Painting with Lee Newman

Instructor: Lee Newman
Description: Learn to compose and paint scenic downtown Frederick! Carroll Creek, historic buildings, and intriguing alleys will provide some of the subjects within walking distance of the Delaplaine. Students will work in the medium of their choice: oil, acrylic, watercolor, or pastel. The first class will be devoted to discussing easels and supplies, creating some drawings, and identifying subjects to paint. There will be ample time to work on a sustained painting or to paint a number of quick sketches in the manner of the Macchiaioli painters. Students should bring the following SUPPLIES: Sketch pad, pencils, and eraser; tripod easel; basic paints that include white, black, and primary colors; brushes and painting surfaces suitable for the medium of your choice.
