Keeping A Nature Sketchbook

Instructor: Lesa Cook
Description: This workshop meets at the Delaplaine on Saturday, June 24 from 10am - 4pm; and at the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo on Sunday, June 25 from 12-4pm on Sunday at the Catoctin Zoo. For the artist as naturalist, sketching and painting from nature is a long standing tradition, from DaVinci to Audubon and beyond. Keeping a sketchbook of graphite, ink, or watercolor images of the natural world is a great way to learn techniques of observation and develop technical skills. Students will work from still life objects from nature on the first day. The second day will be spent sketching from live animals at the Catoctin Zoo. Tuition includes supplies and zoo admission.
