Board Member Expectations This form is completed annually by all members of the Delaplaine’s Board of Trustees. Please read each responsibility listed below, check the box to indicate your willingness to fulfill the responsibility, then complete the Certification at the bottom of the form. Expectations Checklist & Certification As part of my responsibilities as a Board member, I will: Prepare for and participate regularly in Board meetings Be a Delaplaine member in good standing by making a personal financial contribution at a level that is meaningful to me, and I will ask others to join me in contributing to the organization Interpret the Delaplaine’s work and values to the community in a positive and supportive manner Attend Delaplaine special events and volunteer to help when necessary, and as I am able Become a working member of at least one Delaplaine committee/assignment Act in the best interests of the organization and excuse myself from discussions where I may have a real or apparent conflict of interest Stay informed regarding the organization’s programs and take responsibility for making informed decisions on issues, policies and other Board matters Work with the CEO and the Board Committees towards the achievement of the mission of the organization Make no special requests of staff members, including special requests for extensive information; I will direct such requests to the CEO or the Board Chair Actively participate in the growth and development of the Board by participating in an honest and open manner in the annual Board self-evaluation process; suggest names of qualified and valuable people to the Board Development Committee; and participate in any Board planning or development retreats Inform myself of the contents of the Delaplaine Bylaws If I find that I am unable to fulfill my duties as a member of the Board, I will resign.
