Class

Carolingian Hand

Instructor: Christine Tischer
Description: The Carolingian hand, as the hand of Charlemagne’s Court Scriptorium in the last decade of the 8th century, is sometimes looked upon as one of the most important developments in the history of calligraphy. The pen angle is generally flat with a slight forward slope and with wide interlinear space. We will use a broad edged pen to create this “running” or cursive character for this hand. Tuition includes all supplies. NOTE: Left-handed students may wish to consult with Delaplaine staff about modifications before enrolling.
