ATTENTION ARTISTS!
The Delaplaine hosts an annual gala each fall to celebrate another year of bringing the visual arts to the Frederick region and to raise funds to provide arts access and opportunities for all in the community. This year, the event will take inspiration from the classic L. Frank Baum’s stories to present the Oz Gala!
One the event’s signature activities will be an online and silent auction featuring Oz-inspired artworks on 12”x12” canvases (and approximately-sized 3–D artworks). The public online portion will begin about two weeks prior to the September 27 gala and end that evening at the event. All entries will be displayed at the Delaplaine during the bidding period and will have the same starting bid.
We are inviting local artists to participate by donating an artwork for the auction (we will supply the canvas, if desired). Artworks should be inspired by or an homage to the stories, or, like the event itself, blend elements of Oz with our own community. Artists are encouraged to take inspiration from the books and movies (from the classic MGM production to The Wiz and Wicked) to express their creativity and talent while supporting visual arts education!
Canvases will be available for pick-up on June 25, 2025. Finished artworks must be delivered to the Delaplaine by September 1, 2025. Thanks!
