Sculpting the Figure as Gestural Sketch

Description:	Working from a live model, sculpt multiple gestural poses, done quickly to capture movement and rhythm. Without a lot of detail, the small gestural maquette is a valuable way to work out composition, and allows for more dynamism in the pose. These clay sketches are the 3-D version of gesture drawing and an important step in sculpting larger figural work, while also a stand alone work in themselves. Previous drawing or sculpting experience is recommended. Clay, the use of tools, and firing are included with tuition. NOTE: The class dates have changed since the publication of the magazine. The class will now start on March 2 and end March 23.
