Figure Sculpture in Clay

Instructor: Lesa Cook
Description: Develop a deeper understanding of anatomy, gesture, form, and proportion from direct observation of the human figure. Complete a reclining sculpture, without the use of an internal armature, while learning about the properties of clay, proper use of tools, and preparation for kiln firing. Class includes demos, presentations, and examples from art history as well as individual instruction. Sculptures completed in class will be fired at the Delaplaine for pick up at a later date. Open to all levels. Students younger than age 18 must provide written permission to work from a nude model. Tuition includes model fees, all supplies, and firing.
