Sculpting the Human Figure

Instructor: Lesa Cook
Description: Develop a deeper understanding of anatomy, gesture, form, and proportion from direct observation of the human figure. Students will complete two figure sculptures, without the use of an internal armature, while learning about the properties of clay, proper use of tools, and preparation for kiln firing. Class includes demos, presentations, and examples from art history as well as plenty of individual instruction. Sculptures completed in class will be fired at the Delaplaine for pick up at a later date. Students under age 18 must provide written permission to work from a nude model. Open to all levels. Tuition includes models fees, clay, and firing.
