Description: Learn & explore the basic skills to beginning jewelry including bending, sawing, and soldering. Learn to use a jeweler’s saw to cut out design, hammer textures on metal & solder with a propane/oxygen torch. Projects presented in class: 1) Bent wire earrings, pendant or bracelet 2) Pierced & Riveted pendant 3) Soldered ring. Students will need the following supplies: 1) For Bent earrings: 6" of 16g copper round wire; For Pendant: 6" of 14g copper round wire; For Bracelet: 2' of 12g or 10g copper round wire & earring findings or 6" of 20g sterling silver round wire to make earring wires. Est. Cost $35. 2) Pierced & Riveted pendant: 2" x 2" 20g copper sheet & 6" of 14g copper round wire, commercial chain, or 5' of 18g copper round wire to create a chain. Est. Cost $40. 3) Soldered ring: 6" x 1" 20g copper sheet & 1' of 18g coper round wire. Est. Cost $30. Please note: Supplies listed as copper, but sterling silver may be used as a substitute.
