Class

Starting Points: Ceramics I - Kitchen Essentials

Instructor: Brandon Blische
Description: Over the course of this four session class, students will be introduced to ceramics through three basic handbuilding activities: pinch pots, coil pots, and slab vessels. Using these techniques, students will build candle holders, spoon rests, utensil holders, and a tea infuser. Topics covered will include proper clay preparation, handbuilding techniques, slab rollers, clay extruders, glazing, and firing. An overview of the history of ceramics will inform aesthetic qualities that students will add to their work with texture, form, and function. Starting Points are introductory workshops available for students ages 14 and up.
