Class

Starting Points: Ceramics I

Instructor: Brandon Blische
Description: Over the course of this six session class, students will be introduced to ceramics through three basic handbuilding activities: pinch pots, coil pots, and slab vessels. Each exercise will build on the previous culminating in a final project that will incorporate all newly learned techniques. Topics covered will include proper clay preparation, handbuilding techniques, slab rollers, clay extruders, glazing, and firing. An overview of the history of ceramics will inform aesthetic qualities that students will add to their work with texture, form, and function.
