Intermediate & Advanced Jewelry: Hollow Forms, More Bezels, and Soldering Skills

Description: Explore metal forms and soldering in this class geared for intermediate and advanced jewelers. Students will learn to shape metal, creating hollow forms to give pieces more depth. Bezel setting stones will be reviewed and creating bezels for unusually shaped stones. More soldering skills will be explored through practice and projects. Students will complete the following projects: 1) Domed pendant 2) Hollow Form Slide 3) Mosaic Patterned Ring/Pin/Pendant. Prerequisite: Beginning Jewelry I or equivalent. Prior oxy/propane torch experience required. Students enrolled in jewelry classes must be 17 or older. Students will need the following supplies to complete each project: 1) Domed pendant: 1/2"x2" 22 gauge sheet of sterling silver or copper, tube setting to fit stone, lace, fabric or tulle ($25-30); 2) Hollow Form Slide: 1/2"x3" 22 gauge sheet of sterling silver or copper, optional stone tube setting with stone to fit ($30-40); 3) Mosaic Patterned Ring, Pin, or Pendant: 4"x3/4" 20 gauge sterling silver or copper, 2' of 2mm square wire copper and brass, 1' of 12 gauge round wire sterling silver, copper, or brass ($30-50)
