Painting the Portrait in Oil: Costumed Long Pose 18-4-PT1

Description: Working from costumed models during the span of two four-week poses, students will create and complete two oil paintings under the guidance of master artist Lesa Cook. Demonstrations and topics will include the importance of initial thumbnail and color studies, underpainting, and the execution of glazing techniques. Painting set ups will incorporate drapery studies and still lifes. Prior painting experience recommended but not required. Tuition includes oil paints and model fee. Students should bring the following SUPPLIES: Robert Simmons Signet Pack M set of 4 bristle brushes, broad brush size #14; two canvases size 20x24"; palette (preferably glass); sketchbook of any size; HB pencil; kneaded eraser; roll of paper towels (approximate cost: $80). Note: A limited supply of brushes and canvases are available for purchase at the Delaplaine.
