Beginning Jewelry I 18-4-JL1

Description: This class is geared for absolute beginners and is project-oriented. This is not an open studio. Learn the fundamentals of jewelry fabrication to create a forged cuff or form folded bracelet, fold formed or hammered earrings, and a chain necklace. Techniques such as piercing, drilling, sawing, stamping, annealing, and simple soldering will be covered. Ideal for the new or novice jeweler, this class will emphasize safety, tool mastery, and skill development while supporting students through the completion of original jewelry pieces. All students enrolled in jewelry classes must be 17 or older. REQUIRED: Studio waiver (provided in class), safety glasses, disposable foam earplugs, and ventilated respirator. NOTE: Copper and sterling silver sheet and wire are available for purchase at The Delaplaine. • (2) 6x6in 18-gauge copper sheets, dead soft • 6x6in 20-gauge copper sheet, dead soft • 20 ft 16-gauge copper wire, dead soft • 24in 20-gauge sterling silver wire, dead soft
