Classical Pet Portraits in Oil 18-3-PT3

Description: Learn to capture the anatomy, expression, and personality of your animal companion! Working in oil on canvas and from reference photos, this class will focus on specific techniques for rendering textures like fur and feathers, as well as the challenges of working from photos. Students will learn oil painting techniques such as alla prima (wet-into-wet) and glazing. Review examples of historical pet portraits with special emphasis on background composition. Open to all skill levels. Tuition includes oil paints. Students should bring the following ART SUPPLIES: Linen canvas (18x24); glass or wooden palette (not paper); small glass jar; paper towels or rag; Brushes: Robert Simmons Signet M pack (round 0, bright 2, filbert 3, and flat 6) and Robert Simmons broad 14. (Approximate value: $75) NOTE: A limited supply of brushes and linen canvases are available for purchase at The Delaplaine.
