Japanese Tōrō (Lantern) Making

Description: This class is now closed. In Japanese, a Tōrō refers to a free standing lantern made from a variety of materials. In this class, participants will create their own wooden tōrō. The lanterns will be constructed out of wood and paper, with the option of illuminating them via candle or electric light. The class will focus on using hand tools primarily, with some use of the table saw. Tuition includes all supplies. REQUIRED: Signed studio waiver (provided in class), closed-toed shoes, long hair must be tied back, no jewelry, must roll up long sleeves.
