Description: Refine your soldering and metal-forming skills in this class geared for intermediate and advanced level jewelry students. Every 3 weeks, students will complete a new project that focuses on creating rings that fit well. Week 1: Spinner Ring & the Marriage of Metal; Week 2: Double-Axis Fold Form Ring; Week 3: Triple Split Shank Bezel Set Ring. REQUIRED: Signed studio waiver, safety glasses, earplugs, ventilated respirator (3M #8515 recommended). Prerequisite: Beginning Jewelry I or equivalent. Prior oxy/propane torch experience required. Students enrolled in jewelry classes must be 17 or older. Students will need the following supplies to complete each project: PROJECT 1 (Week 1-3):Spinner Ring & the Marriage of Metal: 6 inches of 14 gauge round sterling silver or copper wire; 3x5/8 inches EACH of 22-gauge sterling silver AND copper sheet. PROJECT 2 (Week 4-6): Double-Axis Fold Form Ring: 1x3 inches of 22-gauge sterling silver OR copper sheet. PROJECT 3 (Week 7-9): Triple Split-Shank Bezel Set Ring: 6 inches of 8 gauge half-round, sterling silver or copper wire; 6 inches of 16 gauge round, sterling silver or copper wire; 1x3 inches of 24 gauge sterling silver sheet; oval cabochon with bezel wire to fit (details to be discussed in class.) NOTE: A limited supply of metal sheet and wire, and safety supplies are available for purchase at The Delaplaine. Approximate value of project supplies is $50-$75.
