Sculpting the Head in Écorché

Instructor: Lesa Cook
Description: Écorché is the study of anatomy through the creation of a "flayed" or skinless head on a wire armature. Led by award-winning artist Lesa Cook, students will discover the complexities of human anatomy by first creating a skull out of clay (on an armature) and then adding muscles individually onto one side, creating a life-sized head that shows the underlying skeletal structure on one side and the overlaying muscular forms on the other. This is a great learning tool for both sculptors and anyone interested in drawing or painting portraits. Tuition includes all supplies.
