Health Policies

If a camper has any of the following symptoms of acute illness, they should remain at home: temperature of 100.1 degrees, vomiting, stomachache and/or headache, diarrhea, cough, earache, thick discharge from nose, sore throat, rash or infection of the skin, red or pink eyes, loss of appetite, loss of energy or decrease in activity. If any of these symptoms are severe or persist for more than 24 hours, the camper’s parent / guardian should contact their private source of medical care. Campers must remain at home until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever (100 degrees or greater, or have signs of a fever), without the use of fever reducing medications.

If a camper becomes ill with non-acute symptoms during camp, staff will take them to rest in the health room, where they should remain within sight of a staff member. If they continue to complain of illness after resting, camp staff will contact their parents / guardians.

If a camper has a fever or appears to have any acute illness symptoms, camp staff will immediately contact their parent / guardian to remove the camper from camp. Prompt medical attention or first aid will be arranged for acute illnesses. In case of emergency, staff will call 911 and notify the camper’s parent / guardian.
