Learn the fundamentals of jewelry fabrication to create a forged cuff bracelet, a stack of bangles, earrings, or a soldered chain necklace. Techniques such as piercing, drilling, sawing, stamping, annealing, and simple soldering will be covered. Ideal for the new or novice jeweler, this class emphasizes safety, tool mastery, and skill development while supporting you through the completion of original jewelry pieces.

Please bring the following materials to class:

  • Safety glasses
  • Earplugs
  • Mask to prevent inhaling dust (such as an N95 mask)
  • Copper sheets:
    • 24 gauge, dead soft, 6×6 inches
    • 20 gauge, dead soft, 6×6 inches
  • Copper wire: 12 gauge, dead soft, 20 ft
  • Sterling silver wire: 20 gauge, dead soft, 12 inches

A limited amount of safety and jewelry supplies are available at the Delaplaine Gift Gallery (estimated maximum cost: $35). Rio Grande also carries jewelry supplies online.

NOTE: There will be no class on October 20.
