The Italic hand was popular in the Renaissance because the slightly sloping letters have a cursive arch form that allowed for speed and economy in writing briefs and less formal documents. We will learn the rhythm and cursive quality of this hand using a broad-edged dip pen. NOTE: Left-handed students should consult with the Delaplaine staff about modifications before enrolling.
