Interested in painting but not sure where to start? Start with the basics: color theory! Learn how to paint reflected light, create convincing illusions, and bring vibrancy to your artwork, all through the application of color! This course will cover the basics of acrylic painting, but the focus will be on color theory and how it can bring life to your work. Apply your new skills to creating a painting of your favorite fruits or vegetables. All skill levels welcome.
Please bring the following materials to class:
- Sketchbook: 9×12 inches
- Acrylic paint in 2 fl oz tubes: Winsor & Newton, Golden, or other professional quality recommended
- Cadmium Red
- Cadmium Yellow
- Yellow Ocher (optional)
- Phalto Green (optional, but recommended)
- Phalto Blue
- Ultramarine Blue
- Alizarian Crimson or Magenta
- Vandyke Brown (or any darker shade of brown)
- Titanium White
- Brushes: a basic beginner acrylic painting set in a variety of sizes
