Professor, researcher, and curator Dr. Henry Skerritt joins us for a talk on the history and influence of our winter Artist of Inspiration, Nonggirrnga Marawili, a celebrated Australian Yolngu painter and printmaker.
Henry Skerritt is Assistant Professor in the Department of Art and Curator of Research at the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia. His research centers on the engagement of Indigenous peoples with the institutions of art, with a particular methodological focus on the role of Indigenous communities in curating their own art histories. He has worked on over twenty exhibitions in the United States and Australia.
