DESCRIPTION:Independently refine ceramics skills and bring your personal visions to life in a supportive open studio environment. Students are encouraged to bring in ideas for projects and will receive as much or as little assistance as needed. Each class\, there will be a demo highlighting a specific technique to be applied to new projects. \nPrerequisite: wheel throwing classes\, knowledge of cone 6 clay\, and understanding of glazes and glaze application. \nTuition includes up to 25 lbs. of clay; access to tools\, pottery wheels\, and glazes; as well as firing of completed work. \nPlease note: \n\nStudio tools will be available for your use\, but you are welcome to bring your own.\nPlease plan to have your work completed and ready for glaze firing by the end of the course. This month: Combine different art media to create layered and textured works of art\, themed around the winter season. \nRegistration is by month only\, space is limited\, and pre-registrations are required. Tuition includes all supplies. \nLimited classroom assistant positions are available at no charge for teens ages 12 to 14 who have younger sibling enrolled. SUMMARY:Night Photography: Sailing Through the Winter Solstice
DESCRIPTION:Bundle up as we photograph over 20 boats with their elaborate lighting displays\, all located on Carroll Creek! For this one-evening workshop\, we will start in the classroom to cover the appropriate camera controls\, then head outside to capture unique photos of the stunning fleet. We will also take classic light trail photos along Market and Patrick Streets\, taking photos with shutter speeds up to 30 seconds long. \nPlease bring the following materials to class: \n\nDSLR or mirrorless camera with the classic P\, A/Av\, S/Tv and M exposure modes\nDress appropriately for the weather\nBe prepared to walk and stand for extended periods of time\nTripod – A limited number of tripods are available to borrow. If you do not own one\, reach out to our Instruction Manager to reserve one as early as possible.\nOptional: portable stool or seat

Space is limited\, and registration is required. Gift wrapping included! \nThis program includes a different project to complete at each table. Projects are intended to be self-guided\, with examples and volunteers at each table to assist the kids. \nNOTE: No later than one week before the program\, please email a photo of someone special (the participant\, another family member\, a pet\, etc.) to our Community Engagement Manager. This image will be printed ahead of time for the participant to use in the creation of a gift.
