Description: Still life is the subject matter of painters. Working from life, this class will cover the basics of blocking in the large masses of a painting, exact mixing of color, and techniques of applying paint with brush and knife. Through directed exercises and references to masters like Chardin, Cezanne, and Picasso, students will learn how to develop a painting through several stages. Instruction involves demonstrations and critiques. Students may purchase acrylic or oil paints.
