Poured Painting Video and Zoom Class

Instructor: Janet Arsenault
Description: This at home class will use the instructor’s home video supported with weekly Zoom meetings to guide students through steps of a poured painting using watercolor. Working from a photo of a farm truck, concepts of composition and consideration of the role of value, color, contrast and texture will be highlighted. The multi-hour video showing the instructor completing a painting from start to finish will provide guidance through each step of your own painting of a farm truck as you “virtually” paint with the instructor. Video content includes a detailed explanation of materials, setting up a pouring station at home, and executing the planned drawing on watercolor paper. Subsequent steps demonstrate use of masking fluid with this technique and completion of pours as well as final steps that may be needed to finish the painting. In addition to video access, you will be provided a hard copy of the photo farm truck photo, list of needed supplies, and an outline guide of suggested steps to be completed each week. Weekly online meetings will provide a way to connect and share questions and progress. You will have access to the instructor’s email as an additional way to ask questions as they arise while you work on your painting. A goal for the class which enables you to work from home, is to inspire you with ideas and possibilities to be applied to future paintings using your own subjects of interest!
