Advanced Jewelry: Color, Twist, and Forge!

Description: Learn and explore more soldering skills while creating beads and rings. Students will form shapes using metal sheets and tubing and add stone accents as desired. Projects presented to develop fabrication and soldering skills are: 1) Colored metal pendant 2) Twisted earrings or pendant 3) Forged spoon. Prerequisite: Beginning Jewelry I or equivalent. Prior oxy/propane torch experience required. Students enrolled in jewelry classes must be 16 or older. SUPPLIES NEEDED: 1) Colored metal pendant: 3"x3" 20g or 22g copper or silver sheet, 6" 18g round wire, 1' of 1mm square wire in copper or silver. Optional: cabochons with bezel wire or settings as accents. Est. cost $20 copper, $40 silver. 2) Twisted earrings or pendant: 1' of 3/16" x 22g strip copper or silver, 1' of 20g round silver wire. Est. cost $12 copper, $30 silver. 3) Forged spoon: 6" of 10g copper square wire dead soft or 6" x 8g silver square wire dead soft and 1' of 18g copper or silver round wire or square wire dead soft. Est. cost $15 copper, $35 silver.
