Weaving on a Simple Frame Loom 20-1

Description: Discover the basic techniques and vocabulary of tapestry weaving using a simple, portable frame loom. A variety of yarns in different colors, weights, and fiber content will be available for use to create a woven sampler implementing techniques to include plain weave, vertical columns, stripes, shapes, and rya knots. Students are encouraged to experiment with color and design, and the use of materials from their own stash. Each day will include discussion with time for questions and sharing. Examples of woven works will be presented to provide insight on techniques, materials, and expression. Each student will have the opportunity to weave on a table loom. Students will go home with portable frame loom made in class.
