Oil Painting in Black & White: Painting Plaster Casts 18-3-PT4

Description: Improve your ability to see and record the natural world by creating a tonal oil painting - a perfect step for artists making the transition from drawing to painting. Students will work from plaster casts, while learning to observe using a traditional sight/size method. Achieve a wide range of tonality and the realistic depiction of an object using plumb lines to navigate the angles and proportions. Beginning oil painting practices will be demonstrated. Some previous drawing experience required. Tuition includes oil paints. Students should bring the following ART SUPPLIES: Linen canvas (18x24); glass or wood palette (not paper); small glass jar; paper towels or rag; brushes: Robert Simmons Signet M pack (round 0, bright 2, filbert 3, and flat 6) and Robert Simmons broad 14. (Approximate value: $75) NOTE: A limited supply of linen canvases and paintbrushes are available for purchase at The Delaplaine.
