Drawing Anatomy: The Upper Body

Description: Develop an understanding of human anatomy to create more convincing figurative works! Students will focus on the torso and arms while learning about anatomy and surface landmarks. Work from the skeleton, anatomy apps, and books to explore underlying structures, and put your observations and knowledge to use while drawing from a live model. Class will include presentations of masterworks of anatomical drawings, in-class demos, and individual instruction. Tuition includes live model fee. Models scheduled for this class are male. Students should bring the following ART SUPPLIES: Drawing pad (size 18x24); vine charcoal, charcoal pencils, and white charcoal pencil; kneaded eraser; flat bristle brushes (4-inches wide and smaller); sandpaper block; red conté crayon or pastel pencil. (Approximate value: $40.) NOTE: A limited supply of Basic Drawing Kits and drawing pads are available for purchase at The Delaplaine.
