Intermediate Furniture Making

Description: Learn to make your own furniture! This class meets Friday and Saturday from 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 PM - 5:00PM. This class is comprehensive in design and encompasses the use of both power tools and fine hand tools. Students will make an end table or a stool constructed using fine joinery techniques such as hand cut dovetails, and mortise and tenon construction. Students will learn the properties of wood, wood movement, and how it effects joinery. Students will learn safe use and operation of all of the shops power tools. The teacher will demonstrate proper use of and sharpening of chisels and planes. Open to ages 18 and older. Tuition includes supplies. Students should bring pencil, notepad, any of your own chisels or planes or other woodworking tools (if you have these.)
