Introduction to Woodworking: Box Making Basics

Description: THIS CLASS IS NOW CLOSED. Box making provides foundational skills that will prepare students for future woodworking endeavors! Students will learn the basic techniques of fine woodworking including milling, glue-up, and finishing. Class will include an investigation of the properties, aesthetic qualities, and uses of North American and exotic hardwoods. Students will create a basic box in this two-day workshop. Proper use of hand tools and shop machinery, as well as safety procedures will be emphasized. Tuition includes all supplies. Geared for ages 16 and older. REQUIRED: Signed studio waiver; closed-toed shoes; long hair must be tied back; no dangling jewelry or clothing. STUDENTS SHOULD BRING THE FOLLOWING: Notebook and pencil; an apron and wear clothing you don't mind getting glue on; a bag lunch (or visit downtown restaurants within waking distance of the Delaplaine.)
